Vicky has been completing the Shokz OpenRunPro Review over the past 4 weeks. It is fair to say that she has been blown away by them and a firm fan. Read her thoughts from testing these and comparison with her other Shokz headphones.
Summary of Shokz OpenRun Pro Review
Trivelo Score 5 / 5
The Shokz OpenRun Pro are a great pair of headphones that allow you to hear what is happening around you. We’ve been working with Shokz for many years and big fans of their incredible bone conduction headphone technology. The top of the range Shokz OpenRun Pro headphones has used over a decade of development to master this technology.
What can I say, I love them and can’t believe I waited this long to try them. I have a pair of Shokz XTrainerz that I use for swimming so I’m not sure why it has taken me so long to try these. From doing my Shokz OpenRun Pro review they have been everything that I hoped for and more.

First impressions of the Shokz OpenRun Pro
I was very excited to complete the Shokz OpenRun Pro review so when they arrived I was keen to see what they were like. The box from Shokz was very sturdy and of a premium quality. The headphones themselves were presented well. Included with the headphones is a good quality, sturdy storage case. When I first used them, I was surprised by the vibrations but quickly got used to this. The sound quality is good and they looked great.

Fit of the Shokz OpenRun Pro Headphones
You are aware that you are wearing the headphones but they are comfortable. I wore them while on a train and had to adjust the angle so that I could put my head against the headrest. Once I had adjusted them they were comfortable. You can wear a hat or a headband with them but it takes a bit of adjusting. Fit of the Shokz OpenRun pro headphones while running is incredibly comfortable and you can forget you have them on. Important while running as headphones can become a real distraction if fit is poor.
Functionality of the product
The Shokz OpenRun Pro headphones do everything they promise. I love that I can go for runs and still hear the world around me. They are perfect to wear while running. In the gym. In work meetings. When doing the housework. When walking. In short they are probably on my head more than they are off it. If you limit the Shokz OpenRun Pro headphones purely to running you are missing much of their value.
Battery life of the headphones
While doing the Shokz OpenRun Pro review I was keen to see how the battery performed. Shokz have tended to be reliable with their battery life but I haven’t tested a new pair for a few years. Shock advertise the OpenRun Pro headphones as having 10 hours of battery life. From using them over a number of weeks of running I can confirm this was regularly achieved. I even experienced this while using in colder temperatures when you can experience a drop in battery performance on some headphones. Equally important was the recharge time. In under an hour they will recharge to full capacity every time.
Connectivity of the Shokz OpenRun Pro
Pairing the Shokz bone conduction headphones is easy. It is useful that you can pair them with multiple devices. However, it is not always straightforward to move between sources. On some occasions I had to turn the headphones off and back on again rather than being able to flick between the two.
Build Quality
Excellent build quality. They are simple to use. It feels like structurally there is nothing that could really go wrong with them. Packaging and other bits you get with the headphones are all equally good quality.
Sound Quality
I mainly listen to podcasts and cannot fault the quality. I have also listened to music and have been really impressed. The sound is not directly into the ear which can take some getting used to. The audio quality is affected by this but the trade off is you can safely hear sound around you. Sound quality of the Shokz OpenRun Pro was perfect for my use in a number of different environments.
Comfort of the Shokz OpenRun Pro while running
The headphones are superb for use while running. Aside from an occasional vibration these are so comfortable that I forgot I was wearing them. The sound seems to be within your head rather than external and yet you can hear ambient noises. They don’t bounce or rub. I find them far more comfortable than ear buds.
Would you buy this?
Absolutely, if I lost the pair I have I would buy another pair immediately.
