Our latest trusted review comes from Trivelo Test Associate Carly and her first test assignment with us. She has been braving the winter weather on her bike to complete the D2D Cycling Winter Bib Tights Review. D2D are a UK based cycling clothing firm with a mission to create quality clothing at a fair price. They’re also lovely to deal with so we are big fans here at Trivelo.

Winter Testing of the Bib Tights

Seeing as these are winter cycling bib tights, it only made sense that the review was conducted during the winter! And boy the weather didn’t hold back. I did have one particular ride in the tights where I was battered by wind, rain and mud for the duration of the 30 mile ride. So, over a 6 week I was able to ride in tough conditions ensuring the tights were given a true winter test.

Features of the D2D Cycling tights

Having the zips at the bottom of the tights is certainly a useful feature that really helps with winter kit. When pulling the tights over my thicker winter socks and the silicone gripper cuff kept the bottom of the leg in place. This also meant that the tights didn’t ride up the leg when cycling. There is a reflective strip either side of the zip on the calf of the tights. I thought that this was a great touch and was an extra bit of help towards being visible when cycling during the winter months. Reflective elements of winter clothing is essential so good to see. The chamois pad was comfortable and I had no issues and my rides. During the testing of the tights I rode between 30 and 40 miles for each ride that I wore the tights on with no issues on any ride.

Fit of the Cycling Tights

The fit of the bibs was excellent on the top half of my body and was comfortable to wear. I didn’t experience any issues with them digging in where the shoulder straps are. The material was also soft and breathable. I personally found the length of the leg a little too long. This meant that I was either pulling the leg up or I had a bit of a bunch at the bottom. This didn’t seem to compromise me during riding but I did notice that I’d be pulling the legs up when I stopped for a quick coffee. Worth noting when selecting sizes. I tested the Medium sized tights and am 5’5 tall.

Summary of the D2D Cycling Winter Bib Tights Review

The tights performed well given the conditions tested in. The only exception where the weather was bad for the duration of a 30 mile ride resulting in being soaking wet from head to toe by the end. These tights kept my legs warm, dry and clean during the best of the British winter weather.
