Our blog this week is a look ahead to the racing year and giving some options for races for those thinking about getting their races booked in. Plenty of you will have booked up all your races already and plenty of races will already be sold out, ironman races tend to sell out super fast in particular. All the races are ones we have either entered ourselves from Team Trivelo or are those in our triathlon bucket lists for this or future years. Below are 8 of the greatest triathlons 2016.
2016 Triathlon Race Recommendations
March 20th – The Windsor & Eton winter Duathlon series race 3
Held at the iconic Olympic rowing venue of Eton Dorney sees this new duathlon series kick start your season. Very flat course but can see some high winds as they funnel into the lake.
April 10th – Dinton duathlon
Run by friends of Trivelo this event is in a very beautiful part of the world but the run course can be a touch boggy if their has been a lot of rain so might be worth choosing footwear carefully.
May 29th – Outlaw half
Very popular event outside the ironman brand but well run half iron that can be many peoples A race.
June 11th & 12th – Coniston Triathlon
Gorgeous Cumbria location for various distances of triathlon over this early summer weekend. Well into the season where performance can really be tested.
July 8th to 10th – Long course weekend
If Ironman Wales is a stretch too far then the long course weekend is a great option to see the full iron course and split out the distances over three days.
August 6th & 7th – London triathlon
The largest triathlon in Europe takes place in the heart of the summer holidays. A huge event in the centre of the city with a technical bike course. The run is flat and a bit of a let down for such an iconic venue looping around the back of the arena.
September 11th – Ironman Weymouth
This previous challenger event now being run under the Ironman family. Gives a third UK option for those wanting to compete in an ironman event and try to get that Kona golden ticket.
October 9th – Huntsman triathlon
For those who haven’t had enough of triathlon action yet the huntsman offers an end of season event with open water swimming. Weather dependent but for those India summers can be stunning.
