Not all swim goggles are created equal. A set of goggles bepokely built custom ordered based on your face? That is an interesting product and something we had to get our hands on. As a result I have enjoyed the pleasure of using the TheMagic5 swim goggles for the past 4 weeks after completing the fitting process and pleased to now be able to review them. This follows a large series of reviews we completed in late 2024 of over 15 of the best swim goggles.

Introduction
Before I can start with the physical review its worth noting how different TheMagic5 treat the buying journey. You arrive on the website and then are ushered through a string of steps. These steps allow TheMagic5 to shape your goggles bespoke to you. Your swimming frequency and type are gathered along with a full facial scan. Take the red pill and step into the Matrix. This process is designed to ensure the goggles you receive are optimal for you and will fit like a glove. For your face. In mainstream swimming goggles this is unique. I’m a fully paid up member of the geek squad so I loved it.
First Impressions
The goggles arrived in their stealth black gloss boxes, very anti-Apple. I had a number of pairs to test with different lens configurations and colours. All of them crafted to my Mr Potato shaped head. Inside the box I discovered the goggles case with goggles cocooned within. I am a sucker for a goggles case and think all manufacturers shoud supply them. TheMagic5 case is well proportioned and designed. Good start!
The goggles themselves are compact in size and feel high spec with quality lenses. No complaints from first impressions and leaves me keen to enter the water for their maiden swim.
Fit of the Goggles
The lenses are small. The fit of them sees them sitting inside the eye socket. If you are used to a goggle that sits proud of the socket like the Zoggs Predator this feels somewhat foreign. The head strap on mine was enormous and needed trimming down. The fit feels comfortable though and with a clear lens while testing on dry land.
Seal of the Goggles
Entering the water for my first swim I had to stop on first couple of laps. The seal is a good one around the eye but with them sitting so close to your eyeball you need to adjust to the sensation. From my first few swim visits I didn’t suffer with any water ingress into the goggles. This included some fiddling about between sets quickly finding the position on my eyes. With them so close to your eyes though make sure there is no residual water in there. Before long it will irritate you enough to make you stop. The sensation of water sliding around millimetres from your eyeball not easy to ignore.

Goggles Lens Clarity
Using the goggles on swim sessions up to an hour the anti-fog worked well. The goggles come complete with care guidance to help you maintain the integrity of the anti-fog. With the lens fitted close to your eyeballs the peripheral vision from the goggles is very good. You can see the edges of the frames that needs some adjustment as you swim but this was something I found I had forgotten about after about 20 laps. Visibility is as good as anything from Zoggs or HUUB who I normally find a favourite.
Quality of the materials
TheMagic5 goggles have a premium feel about them. From the case to the goggles themselves they feel like they are expensive. Which is a relief because unless you are an Arabic oil tycoon they are a lot for goggles. The only slight niggle from me was the head strap that seemed overly large and I needed to cut down. I’ve not had to do this on any goggles in over 30 years of competitive swimming but it was something quickly remedied. I’m not sure how massive your head would need to be for straps this long but I am thinking Spongebob type humans.
Extras
TheMagic5’s come with a very handy case. I hate it when expensive goggles come with either a flimsy bag or even more criminal nothing at all. So just expecting you to check them in your kit bag and get ruined. No such complaints from me with TheMagic5 goggles. Some guidance on care which is handy and other than that ready to roll. What else would I like to see? A lightweight branded towel would be a nice touch and help promote the brand for not much money. Be good if brands thought a bit deeper about really making the product valuable.
Would I buy these
For a slim profile swim goggle they are hard to knock. Very good fit. So good in fact that I found the flush nature of the lenses somewhat disconcerting. Good visibility and anti-fog properties with a useful case are all thumbs up from me. The icing on the cake is the facial scanning for fit optimisation. I have to assume not just a gimmick as my pairs all turned up for testing and comparison and fit like no other goggles. Yes I would buy them and yes I would recommend them to others.
