NorthRoad Mistral Bike

Pros & Cons of the NorthRoad Mistral bike

Pros

  • The Frame is excellent, light and strong
  • Full Custom Build, so everything is as I requested

Cons

  • The only down to going custom is build time and Ian works hard to build and deliver quality as fast as he can.

Introduction to the reviewer

I’m into time trials / road racing who moved towards cyclo-cross and mountain bike racing through the years. As a duathlete I have medaled at the British Age Group championships 3 times and have represented GB as an Age group athlete at multiple championships.

Introduction to the NorthRoad Mistral

This is an ultra lightweight bike, built to a very deliberate spec to be fast going up a hill. With a change of wheels it is also an excellent bike for Criterium racing and draft legal duathlons.

NorthRoad Mistral Frame

The NorthRoad Mistral uses an ultra lightweight Toray Carbon Road Frame using Rim brakes.

Bike Component Highlights

  • Full mechanical Shimano Dura-Ace groupset configured as a 1 by 11 set up.
  • Spada Spillow carbon wheels that weigh 840grams for the pair.
  • Deda Superleggero cockpit and seat post

Riding the NorthRoad Mistral

The bike is fast and planted. As a hill climb bike the only thing holding it back is you. With a change of wheels you have a great criterium bike with instant acceleration, brilliant stability at speed and assured braking.

Upgrades made to the bike

The bike is a full custom build. NorthRoad will put together anything you want. For me the important thing was that it still looked like a bike you could ride every day so it has components that are up to the job.

Summary of NorthRoad Mistral Bike Review

This bike makes me smile and has been everything I wanted and more. It makes you want to ride up hills and push yourself harder and harder. It is everything I wanted from a bike and a brand.

Owning a NorthRoad is like being part of a big family.
