Trek Allant+ 9S Stagger eBike
Another completely new model for 2021 from Trek Bikes is the Allant+ 9S Stagger eBike. The Allant is a bruiser of an eBike with a sturdy look about it but only weighing in at 23.6kg that is comparable with others in our list. Styling wise with a drop top tube the ambition from Trek is to achieve a unisex frame in lightweight aluminium. It may be a Marmite design decision and not convinced it will be genuinely a one size fits all in the spirit of a Brompton but a brave choice.
The Allant shares many of the components with the Lekker Amsterdam Enviolo GT above. The drive train and gearing are mirrored with the Gates CDX carbon belt drive coupled to the Enviolo CVT rear hub. Trek have adopted the Bosch motor and battery. This has one of the most powerful batteries in our list of belt drive eBikes with the Bosch motor delivering a slightly lower max power output of 75Nm. The battery capacity is a monster 625 Wh delivered in an integrated battery. This is 125 Wh larger than the upgraded Lekker model. The range of this combination gives up to 150 miles of assisted cycling but this varies dramatically depending on speed, cadence and weight.
The Allant + 9S comes with a Suntour suspension front fork with lockout for those not looking to lose any power and trade comfort for speed. The seat post includes suspension mitigating need for full suspension in a more cost effective manner. In addition to suspension the Allant has 4-piston hydraulic disc brakes for confidence in all-weather conditions. Final features include mudguards, rear rack and lights to further provision all-rounder capability.
